BENEFITS FOR YOU
BENEFITS FOR THE WORLD
Recycled textiles fosters reuse potential and clean-up incentives - Less than 10% of all plastic ever produced has been recycled. Every year more than 190 million additional tons land in landfills or in the ocean
The production of one recycled polyester T-Shirts makes use of 13 plastic bottles, thereby preventing 5 new plastic bottles from landing in the ocean
The production of one recycled polyester T-Shirts makes use of 13 plastic bottles, thereby preventing 5 new plastic bottles from landing in the ocean
Up to 70% less Energy, 86% less water, and 70% less CO2 are used in comparison to the production of a non-recycled polyester T-Shirt
Textiles made from recycled polyester - how does it work?
Recycled polyester is based on the reuse of PET (polyethylene terephthalate). In the standard method of the recycling process, the PET plastic is sterilized, dried and then shredded into fragments. These plastic splinters are then softened and fed through a spinneret, from which the yarn can be created. A so-called crimping machine then gives the yarn its woolly structure. Finally, the yarn is brought together in bales and dyed if necessary. It can then be processed into textiles.
There are now many institutes and organizations that are constantly researching even more environmentally friendly and energy-saving recycling methods. This is because the large amount of plastic in landfills and in the oceans has enormous potential for use and, with increased demand, can even become cheaper than new polyester production. It therefore makes sense to buy recycled polyester instead of conventional polyester. This is the only way to stop the flood of plastic and preserve our habitats for people, animals and nature. By 2030, 20% of all PET bottles will be recycled. Contribute to a cleaner world that reuses its resources wisely.
